UK-based Nigerian music promoter Tunde Babalola, popularly known as Tunde Phoenix, has leveled serious allegations against award-winning singer Ahmed Ololade, professionally known as Asake. In a detailed Instagram story, Phoenix, who previously managed Asake, accused the artist of canceling several high-profile performances in 2024 due to what he described as "laziness" and an unwillingness to share earnings with team members.
Phoenix claimed that Asake declined numerous lucrative offers, including national shows featuring global stars, with potential earnings close to $1 million per show. He suggested that Asake's reluctance to perform stemmed from a desire to avoid splitting profits with his team, leading to significant financial losses.
This isn't the first time Asake's performance decisions have come under scrutiny. In 2024, Abidjan Laguna show organizer Karim Ouattara revealed that Asake's performance was canceled after the singer demanded a private jet to transport him from Los Angeles to Lagos, then to Abidjan, and back to Lagos. This request reportedly did not sit well with the show's sponsors, leading to his removal from the event lineup.
