The Federal Government has approved an increase in the monthly allowance for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000, with payments expected to commence in March 2025. However, funding issues have delayed the implementation, leading to corps members continuing to receive the previous stipend.
Carol Embu, Acting Director of Information and Public Relations at NYSC, stated that the scheme is actively pursuing the necessary cash backing for the allowance increase but emphasized that the process requires time and due diligence. As of now, there is no official confirmation regarding the payment of any backlog of the increased allowance.
Corps members are advised to remain patient as the NYSC management works to resolve these financial constraints and implement the approved allowance increase.
