Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko recently addressed the issue of sexual exploitation in the Nigerian film industry, asserting that some aspiring actresses enter Nollywood with the intention of leveraging sexual relationships to advance their careers
In a recent appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast, Kosoko challenged the prevalent narrative that directors and producers are solely responsible for initiating such unethical practices. He emphasized that individuals have the autonomy to reject inappropriate propositions, stating, "If I said I need you to warm my bed so that I can give you a role, and you said no, they cannot force you to do it."
Kosoko further highlighted that some women deliberately exploit these situations to gain recognition in Nollywood, noting, "I know some ladies that equally come into the industry with the determination that, by the time 'I sleep with this and sleep with that, I will get my name.'"
The actor's remarks shed light on the complexities surrounding the issue of sexual exploitation in the entertainment industry, suggesting that while unethical propositions may exist, the decision to engage in such practices ultimately lies with the individuals involved.
